OUR MISSION STATEMENT

To demonstrate love and provide comfort to children and adults who are in crisis situations, through the gifts of new handmade blankets and other items, lovingly crafted by dedicated volunteers without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin or age, thus enriching the lives of those who receive the gifts as well as the lives of the creators of the gifts.

WHO AND WHY WE ARE

We are a 100% volunteer organization, no paid staff, who share common goals:

1) the desire to help children and others who may be medically ill, psychologically traumatized or in financial crisis;

2) provide a venue for volunteers to lend their talents and resources to this seriously needed effort.

FUNDING OF THE ORGANIZATION

This volunteer group depends almost entirely on donations and grants. These come from businesses, corporations and individuals who believe in our mission. Also funds come from the volunteers themselves. The donations are used for materials to create the blankets, afghans, quilts and other items specifically used to fulfill our mission. At an average cost of materials of approximately $10 to create a blanket, we depend heavily on the generosity of donors.

In addition to the donors mentioned above, we hold fund raisers throughout the year to, of course, raise money but almost as important, to raise awareness about our organization and its efforts to make a difference in the lives of those who are in unfortunate circumstances.

IDENTIFICATION OF RECIPIENTS OF OUR EFFORTS

Cozy Comforts of South Grant County, WA, Inc., works with individual clinics and agencies in our geographic area and their outreach programs, nonprofit organizations whose focus is compatible with our mission, hospitals and their emergency departments, pediatrics and OB as well as individuals who come to our attention in other ways.

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER

Cozy Comforts welcomes individuals and groups who have a desire to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable among us, while at the same time, enriching our own lives by sharing our talents and resources doing the things that we would normally be doing for our families and loved ones - lovingly creating items that will help to reinforce a bit of security and love where it is needed most. Very importantly, a volunteer does not have to be an excellent seamstress, an incredibly creative knitter or crocheter; a volunteer just has to have a desire to show that they care for and about those who need a "blanket hug."  Many of our volunteers are very talented in what they do and are more than willing to share their expertise and teach their craft, providing a nonthreatening, encouraging atmosphere to learn a craft while providing a much-needed and appreciated item.
